suji meaning in marathiand Suji refers to the recipe that is used to make Halwa and its variations

Suji Halwa is also known by the names of Rava Sheera, and Rava Sheera both in Western India and Rava Kesari in South India. The recipe is mostly the same however, a few of the ingredients being changed at times.

Semolina, also known as Rava, is the primary ingredient. In certain variants there is the option to use milk instead of water and is often referred to"milk Kesari. To enhance the flavor the flavor, typically cardamom powder is to be added.

The halwa may also be used to mark an occasion of great significance or as the celebration of a pooja. It could be used for a special celebration such as Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi or any other religious celebration that is held at home or for a treat to yourself with some desserts. It also is a wonderful breakfast option or dessert option when having dinner.

Because it's a simple to make halwa recipe that is quick and easy to prepare, there's no need or need to take the time to cook this dish. I make sooji halwa often to use it as Bhog or humbledyam to offer to gods.

We prepare Suji Halwa and puri to celebrate the Navami ceremony that is a component of Navratri Festival. Kala chana too is cooked. On this day, we distribute Kala Chana, suji Halwa along with puri to the girls (kanjak) who represent the Mother Goddess.

The Rava kesari , which is popularin South India generally has synthetic orange coloring added. You can however create similar rava kesari using natural coloring agents like threads of saffron, or powdered saffron.

Saffron threads or kesar can be added to a sooji halwa like the one here. Saffron Suji Halwa.

In addition to this halwa recipe I also prepare different types of Halwa recipes. I don't cook them often however, I do make the halwa when we're having pooja or other occasions of celebration or just for the sake of indulgence.

The recipes I've shared include many halwa variations and you can find them in this collection that contains 28 Halwa dishes..

Sooji Halwa Proportions

Sooji Halwa It is typically prepared in large quantities on religious occasions or holidays. If you are looking to create the largest quantity and wish to create the largest amount, there's a minimum amount that you have to adhere to.

The ratio of suji relative to Ghee is 1:1:2:0.5 in the cup or glass. I slightly alter the ratio in order to add some Ghee, but with smaller amounts of sugar.

  • Sugar - To make 1 cup sooji (or the rava) I'd suggest including 2/3 to 3/4 cups of sugar. This means it's possible that suji Halwa isn't as sweet or it is not as sweet. A cup of sugar gives the most sweet and sweet flavor.
  • Ghee It is also recommended to add 2/3 of Ghee per one cup suji. For me, 2/3 cup is the ideal amount of Ghee. Reduce or increase the amount of ghee based on your personal preference.
  • the water, I've added 2.5 cups of water for one Cup Suji. Suji. However, you can also add 2 cups of water. The quantity of water you consume could be increased based on the quality, and also if you wish to achieve the consistency of the pudding.

Suji's ratio for water to Ghee is found to be 1:1:2:0.5 in a glass or cup measuring. I slightly vary from this ratio and I use less ghee as well as sugar.

  • Sugar: For 1 cup of sooji, I'd suggest adding 2/3 or 3/4 cups of sugar. So, the suji Halwa has less sweetness or is more sweet. 1 cup of sugar provides the most sweet taste.
  • Ghee I use 2/3 cups of ghee to each Cup of Suji. For me , 2/3 cup is an adequate amount of ghee. You can increase or decrease the ghee depending on what you like.
  • Water I've used 2.5 cups of water to make 1 Cup of Suji. You can add 2 cups of water. The quantity of water you use can be increased depending on your preference in the quality of curry and also based on the consistency of pudding.
